Back to normal?

Wearing a hat is NOT normal for me; however, upon my return from Seattle it was the Ladies Luncheon with style show and it was HAT day. It was alot of fun and since I had done some serious shopping at Coldwater Creek outlet store in Seattle and they presented the style show at the luncheon, I felt right at home. Quite good and since we have been going thru chefs like it was out of sync, the new chefs did a good job of providing a nice lunch. Always fun to "do lunch".
Today is my day to play catch-up, listen to Sunday Morning Jazz Brunch on the radio and hang loose, getting ready to pack again for my trip later in the week to CA. to see Kayla and Josh. more pics. more fun.. more family.

Enjoy your day...

and mooorrrrrreeeee pics

More pics............

I'm back :-)

Had an absolutely wonderful time in Seattle. The fab four were great, Stephen and Lisa are terrific parents, Ryan (15) and Abby (now 12) are loving and delightful. We had so much fun. Lisa and I did our thing on Friday, going to the West Seattle Nursery for some plants (pics will follow) and such. Saturday it was the "girls" day out for shopping and mani's. Shopped at the big outlet mall, 150 stores, all with specials we couldn't live without. 6 hours of shopping is alot of shopping for this old gal but I had a grand time. Saturday night was Abby's b'day dinner at downtown P.F.Chang's. YUM! Sunday was the actual b'day - we stayed busy doing whatevers. Monday, everyone was out of school and/or off of work, so we enjoyed extra time together. Tuesday, back to Montgomery. Flight was fine but I've spent 3 days without my computer. Service person came finally yesterday and found the problem.
Weekend thought from Edmund Burke " Our patience will achieve more than our force". Enjoy the weekend and check for more Seattle pics when you have time.

Lunch date in Montgomery

It's another one of those beautiful days in ole' Montgomery so BF and I had a date for lunch and a little Wal-Marting....The best place for lunch on a glorious day is Old Montgomery Steak House. Easily a fav of ours particularly when we dine outside. Good lunch and then onward to shop some. Now that I'm awake I'm going to go to Snap and work off the lunch. I don't usually eat a big lunch, so I'd better do something constructive, like using the treadmill.
I'm proud of BF, he has a new blogspot and it's great. For any and all that enjoy gardening, particularly here in the South, check his blog out. He is very knowledgeable about all kinds of plants and trees and spends lots of time researching about soil, shade, etc. http://dcc-gardening.blogspot.com/ . I promise you will enjoy it.
My friend, Trinette, has been posting some good thoughts on f.b, so with her permission, this is today's thought:
"There is a time for departure even when there's no certain place to go." It's always good to leave ahead of the game before you realize you have stayed tooooo long.
Happy gardening...

and continuing with the White Elephant sale

Obviously, I am not awake! Scroll down to see the pics of the White Elephant Sale yesterday (Saturday). Only about 2 dozen vendors, nice a.m., overcast and not yet sweltering.....Found a couple of cute little things, nothing big and certainly nothing expensive. Note the pics of the original jail in Mongtomery. Took white car for a super car wash (it rained last night, what would you expect). It was necessary to get all the tree sap, bugs, and just good old dirt off of the car.
Today, really overcast and still expecting more rain. Makes my plants happy.
For Sunday, think about this from James M. Barrie "Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else." how true is that!

Before and After

Bless their little hearts, Lowe's came calling again yesterday. My master dressing room is dreamy. Looks all soft and pretty. I love the peach swirls, it's perfect with the walls and the new faucets are cool. Had Phillip, the installer measure the guest bath. Might as well bite the bullet and do it also. As it is said, you do one thing to pretty up the place and everything else suddenly needs doing. Also looked at new flooring and found such a big selection, I naturally couldn't make up my mind.
Tomorrow is the White Elephant Sale in downtown Montgomery. I'll be there. Later in the day, it's the Preakness. My $'s are on the filly.
Weekend thought - from Evan Esar "Anger is the feeling that makes your mouth work faster than you mind"...
enjoy and have a good one. 40-50% chance of rain for Montgomery. sigh....

Lunch with dear friends

Had to drive into the big city yesterday (H'town) for an appt. and met 2 of my best buddies for lunch. It is always a pleasure to be able to get together with friends for lunch and/or dinner without feeling like I have to rush to return home. Lady Di and Minerv have been best buds at work and fortunately the friendship has continued after I retired. I feel so connected to them, their families and their lives. Have had the opportunity to meet all of their families at one time or another and thru the time of my hospitalizations, recovery and such, they kept me in their prayers, visited and always in their hearts. I wish I would have remembered (senior moment) to take their pics for today's blog. anyway, thanx gals for a fun lunch and all the news that is fit to print.

Happy Mother's Day

Nice Mother's Day - son Jonathan drove out from H'town to spend the day. After a nice lunch of barbecue at Vernon's (crowded, lots of others had the same idea) and a trip downtown Montgomery to show Jon the sights, we headed back to the condo. We had a really good time and I appreciated his coming out. We don't always get to see each other so it's special when we have time together. I sometimes think H'town is just as far away as Seattle (Stephen and family) and LA (Kayla and Josh). Jonathan is an attorney and works long hours and 7 days a week. He's always on call it seems. No sooner than we arrived home and it was Stephen calling from Seattle to advise they now have SKYPE, and as soon as Ryan & Abby returned home they would skype me. By the time they called Jonathan had journeyed on and so he didn't get to "see" them. Not to leave Kayla out, but we spoke last night and this a.m. also. I've been blessed with good kids who have grown into great adults. Responsible citizens, good work ethics and caring people. And I have my 2 wonderful grandchildren. How lucky am I?
I hope everyone had a lovely day, enjoying family and friends.
btw, Steve Williams won the election and that's good news. Glad I took time to vote. :-)

Steve Williams

Election Day in Montgomery. Steve is a candidate for MISD Pos. 4. He has been director of Finance for the City of Conroe with 13 years in Municipal Management and Finance. He is a Certified Finance Officer. Masters of Public Administration & BA/Political Science - University of North Texas....April Sound Resident - Property Owners Association Board of Directors....and more. He is also a Certified Black Belt Instruction and his wife Kari is a 4th Grade Teacher at one of Montgomery's schools. Kari called me this morning to remind me to be sure and vote. I said sure. She then called me back to tell me where the school was to vote at. Steve got my vote because of Kari's "one extra mile" for her hubby and also for his cv. When I finalllyyyy arrived at the school, Steve even came over to personally greet me by name. Smart fellow. I hope he wins.

Progress

Big stuff going on at the club site. Happened by to see the big cement trucks pouring cement. Couldn't get close enough to check it all out but still, it was neat. Can't wait for the new club building to be complete and to be able to invite friends out for brunch. Hopefully, if the weather holds out and the construction continues, it is due to be completed by the end of 2009. Fingers crossed.

It's First Saturday in Montgomery

and the 10th Annual Antique Mart & Sale. What a glorious fun day. Parking at Buffalo Springs with free shuttle to and fro, easy. I walked the festival for about 2.50 hours. Hot, humid and so much to see and do. Normally, I am not an antique type person, but having inherited a great deal of items from my grandmother and mother, I suddenly have alot. It was definitely a good thing for me to see, now I have a greater ($$$) appreciation of what it's all about and what it is worth on the market place. Large crowd with people buying. That's a nice sign with all the pr the economy is getting at this time. Saw lots of neighbors and friends of ASLA - after that, stopped at Wal-Mart, saw more friends, then home and one more stop to Kroger. p.s., also went to the usual vendor's at the First Sat. area. Wouldn't want them to miss me. btw, I may return tomorrow to see what I missed at the antique show. I still have my green armband.

All done, new carpet

Wow! Lots of work, and lots of rain on Tuesday but the team from Lowe's came and conquered. It was an all day project, I would never have believed they could remove, prepare, install the new carpet, plus move alllll of the furniture here, there and where ever there was a space available. They really did a great job and were neat, pleasant, and did not waste a minute. Personally, I was pooped.! Moving all of the breakables and such stuff was my job, fortunately I had already moved 99% of the stuff. (Bathtubs are a great place to store things temporarily). Of course, now I'm putting it all back. It's a great time tho to clean and re-organize everything, particularly the library.
today's thought from William Hazlitt "When a thing ceases to be a subject of controversy, it ceases to be a subject of interest".
Happy May 1st. Can you believe?
