Boooooooo..........Sights around Montgomery

'Twas Halloween Day and all thru Montgomery, it was happening...Bazaar at the Storage Company (Fall Back Bazaar), at the Tennis Center in April Sound, preparations for the carnival this evening, and a few colourful characters hanging around. Added plus - a beautiful sunny day. How bad can this all be? I'd say pretty good.
Hope your day and eve is filled with fun and surprises.
Happy Trick or Treating...and don't forget to "fall back"....

ASLA Craft Luncheon Pics

Today was the ASLA Ladies Luncheon and Craft Show. There were approximately 50 vendors and lots of early shoppers (members) then luncheon and more shopping for the general public. It was a lot of fun, good spirits and as usual, Chef Paul prepared a great luncheon. I purchased several gifts for the holidays and naturally a little something for myself. It was nice to see everyone as I have missed several functions because of travel. Unfortunately I will miss almost all of the November functions and December functions. sigh...
Oh well, there is always next year.

Fall means crock pot cooking

Fall is in the air, at least in Montgomery. With-standing the hugh amount of rain yesterday, the air is cool to cold, overcast and now sunny and just the perfect day. We may not have the coloured leaves but we have plenty of pumpkins, gourds and artificial leaves of colour. Fall to me signals crock pot cooking time. Yesterday I made chicken soup, today it's vegetable beef. I'll freeze some, give some to neighbors and oh yes, I made a new recipe this morning for pumpkin pie. I'll test it out on the neighbors.

It's Gray Matter Sunday, # 8

For this message, United received 3,054 letters and mailed 14,622 reprints.

From a personal point, I've been so fortunate during this last 2 year period to renew a high school friendship - visit Jackie and her husband Bill, after a 43 year absence. The same for my childhood friend Melanie and her husband Larry, we Skype regularly now and I will once again visit she and Larry in December. Thanks to Facebook, I have just recently been "f.b'd" by a neighbor that I've had no contact with since the early 80's and another acquaintance from that time period. Say what you like about this fast paced "electronic" world we now live in, it definitely has it's plus side.

Enjoy some football today or whatever pleases you. Take care.

Luncheon date with the new guy in town.....

Mr. Panda - from Panda Express. May not be a big deal to a lot of y'all, but a new take-out, especially Chinese is good news in Conroe/Montgomery. Place was full of folks out enjoying the beautiful weather. They have outside tables set up and all of the high school students were there. It was definitely a happening place. Portions are hugh and I brought home enough for dinner and tomorrows lunch. YUM!

Falls is in the air - enjoy!

Resurfaced ......

Besides traveling the world this year, my other big passion has been updating and refreshing my condo. Almost (:-) completed, yesterday I had Andres' come and re-surface my guest bathtub. A leftover from the 70's, probably original bath unit, it was UGLY! serviceable but not particularly nice looking. Having guests visit always made me uncomfortable with the state of the bath. The procedure was a great choice, it took about 3+ hours and the re-glazing was finished. Leave for 24 hours, remove protective papers that were all over the bathroom and I will then place the sliding doors back on the track. Walla, looks brand new and the cost was definitely affordable. Next and hopefully almostttt the last, turning my patio into a garden room. Not till November tho.

Today's thought definitely works for me - from John Cage "The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason" (except in my case, I want to make it beautiful )

Something new.......

One of the best things about 1) meeting new people 2) making new friends 3) learning helpful information is that a lot of times it makes life easier. Shirley-Mae and Bill, world travelers many times over, use the Eagle Creek Pack-It System. These neat "envelopes" condense your clothing into a single packet, it even gives directions on how to fold items to prevent wrinkles and general disarray when you arrive at your destination with your suitcase. For as many years as I've traveled, and I've always prided myself on packing well, airlines, trains and cab drivers do not care about how you have packed. Everything is all Topsy turfy when you open the suitcase. Yesterday, being the beautiful sunshiny day that it was, I hit the road to REI. Although you can purchase them thru the Eagle Creek website, I decided to view them all in person. Hugh selection, I chose blue and I purchased the 7 & the 12 units. Can't wait to use them on my next venture. It should also reduce the weight of my suitcase. Hopefully.

It's nice to be back in the swing of things - this article appeared in the WSJ August 1983 and United received 14,003 letters and mailed 40,614 reprints.
imho, it's just as true today as it was in 1983. I hope you enjoy it.

It was a long long visit to France, here are a few of

the pics. In no particular order, they are the friends, Bill & Shirley, the skipper of the Nilaya, Kevin, his first mate, Rod, the hotels, the museums, some of the food we consumed, towns we visited, etc, etc, etc. CO's flight to Paris going was first class, nice to be sure. The CO's flight returning was coach. Adequate and I was particularly happy to just be heading home. 10.5 hours is a long time to be in the air. I hope you enjoy the pics, if you want more info, I will be posting more in the next few days. I had planned to post along the way but Verizon failed me and I was dependent on the hotel wifi networks. Anyway, it's great to be home.!
