Better late than never, here's the news....

Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter. Of course, it was 7:30 a.m. this morning when poor Phil was rudely awaken and taken to task to see his shadow. I truly believe with all of the media lights, he had no choice but to see his shadow. In addition, it was lightly snowing...What kinda deal is that! I actually awoke this morning to see the excitement. Lots of gents with top hats and tuxes and the crowd was in a frenzy! Whoa Nellie...
fyi - February 2, 1850. Brownsville. After the Mexican war, the Rio Grande Valley is boiling. Postwar white settlers begin to dispute land titles of Hispanics believed loyal to Mexico. Newspaper editor Joseph Palmer calls a meeting at the schoolhouse, asking congress to make south Texas a U.S. territory. They want to secede from Texas. When the legislature vows to fix the grants, the secession movement dies. The Rio Grande territory never happened 160 years ago this month in Texas history.
I like this thought from Evan Esar : "Character is what you have left when you've lost everything you can lose".
