Work in progress

Work continues on the guard house for the entrance to our gated community. It is looking good and at the rate the construction workers are moving it should be completed relatively soon. The weather has been good and it is going to greatly enhance the entrace to April Sound. Plans are that it will be in sync with the new country club. Modern with a touch of tradition.

Gray Matter Sunday #10

Bet you thought I had forgotten Gray Matter Sunday....truth be told, I haven't been home on a Sunday morning in quite a while. As it turned out, Peter was here for the weekend. This Gray Matter #10 - was just where I landed when I opened the book. For this message United Technologies received 10,805 letters and mailed 32,691 reprints. It is a very personal Gray Matter to me. I hope you enjoy it and enjoy Sunday.

Will it ever end??????

I guess I'm never satisfied - I am having two of the four mirrors removed from the dining room wall - with the last two to be removed in June. Yes, I know that will make the rooms look smaller - but with the addition of the garden room to the patio I don't think it will be noticeable...So, you ask "Why?"...Well, seems as tho I have run out of wall space for my art - and since I bid and won more art on the last cruise - I need more wall space. Seems more cost effective to just remove the wall mirrors and use that space. Besides, it will give me a warm and cozy art gallery...Next project after the removal of the last two mirrors - new windows.

Grace + Mo = Beautiful Wedding

My dear friends, Grace Ting and Mo Taing married this weekend in Austin. It was an amazing celebration, culminating 11 years of courtship and love. Family and friends came from as far as Australia and various places in the Orient, and many others. Colors for the wedding were orange and lime green (done ever so tastefully). From the first day of celebration with the Formal Tea Ceremony in a wonderful home overlooking Austin to the wedding at the Vineyard at Florence, TX. to the Sunday brunch, everything was first class, totally elegant and very very touching. I was so fortunate to be included and received so warmly by their families. It definitely made me a believer in "happily ever after". May they have many more wonderful years together. They are a very special couple.

Judy & George

What a grand weekend. And a long one. Leaving Montgomery on Thursday I was off for the wedding of Grace & Mo - but that is another blog because I am downloading pics. BUT, on the way to Austin, I had to make a stop at BUC-EE'S....Can't pass one up. The very best in "pit stops". Then on my way. While in Georgetown, I had a few hours to myself and I called Judy & George. We've been friends for a lot of years and one of my first road trips when I retired was to see them. Had a great visit, they have not changed at all and it was wonderful to spend time with them. Needless to say, they kept wanting me to relocate to Sun City. It is a really nice area but I'm Montgomery/H'town bound. It will take me a day or so to finish the wedding blog, so stay tuned. It was understated elegance and beauty and one of the most interesting weddings I've ever attended.
Today's thought - Happy Mother's Day to all my blogging friends that are moms, and to those that are not, remember "friends are the flowers in the bouquet of life".

50th Reunion in Philadelphia - Drexel University

Peter's 50th Class Reunion from Drexel was in Philadelphia this last weekend. I've not been to Philadelphia since the '60's, and must admit I didn't remember much, certainly not Drexel University. Wonderful school, when Peter attended, the enrollment was about 5,000 - now a thriving university of over 22,000 students. Every nationality, color, age - and every available opportunity for a wonderful education. The buildings are beautiful, lots of grass (:-), transportation from the hotel to the campus was precise, every 10-15 minutes. We were busy every hour, having only a little time to return to the hotel, freshen up and head out again for a brunch, a wine tasting afternoon, bus tour of the university, gala reception and dinner, etc. The best of the best - I went not knowing anyone but Peter and returned with a family of wonderful new friends. Hopefully we will stay in touch and visit, not waiting for 50 years. Congrats to the Class of 1959/60. And thanx for wonderful memories.
