Kelly & Todd

Kelly & Todd are here today installing my new patio doors. I am so happy to have the work almost finished on the condo. It seems like it has been an ongoing project since last year, which it has been. I really enjoy my home and it is so totally different from when I purchased it and moved in. It is absolutely true that you have to live somewhere for a period of time before you know what you truly want to accomplish. I am/will be pleased and proud of all the work I've had completed, and that it is exactly what I wanted it to become. I also learned alot and met some really fine craftsmen - all professional and if needed, I would be happy to furnish referrals. soooo, all that being said, stop by and see what's happened and have a cup of tea. Not my usual Sunday blog.....

Wonderful Saturday eve. My niece, her husband, and two little red-heads came to visit. The kids (smallest one missing - he was a little hurricane and 2 fast for my camera) were so much fun, and my niece and her husband were, as usual, charming and so sweet. They are a great couple and are very family oriented and generous with inviting everyone always to their home. We had dinner at the club which at night becomes magical when all the lights are on. After dinner, the kids played on the putting green and wore themselves out. It was a great evening and I did so enjoy having them visit.

Tidying up the Blvd.

For some reason the Association decided to clean up the Blvd with removal of several large pines. They did not appear to have any problems but then again I didn't climb up the ladders to check them out. Part of the charm of April Sound is the lovely and tall pine trees. They have been doing alot of road repairs, which were in fact badly needed. Our POA at work with our $$$$'s. It's a good thing tho. I would rather see good maintenance than letting things slide until they became eyesores.

First in Line

I've been very patiently waiting for Wall Steet - Money Never Sleeps with Michael Douglas to open. The reviews were lackluster, except for the review for Michael Douglas. I never never pay attention to the reviews (especially the Chronicle) because I believe the person reviewing is very bias and has their own agenda. Personally, I thought it was outstanding. Not only the plot but particularly Mr. Douglas. Given that he has just recently revealed that he is battling throat cancer, he gave an outstanding, cruel, touching, no holds barred performance. Probably one of his best. The original Wall Street was very "ahead of it's time". Little did we know what the financial world would be like some 20 years later. This show runs the gamut of all kinds of financial situations, fall and return, hard and soft. I personally give it all the stars possible!

10:06 P.M. Tonight

Fall arrives....Hooray! It's about time. And, Happy Special Birthday to my sister, BJ, who turns in her insurance card for Medicare. Amazing gift. Happy B'day little sister.

Lovely day today at the ASLA Luncheon. I took a guest, new lady in the neighborhood. Was also a table hostess. Kinda fun and I didn't even spill the water and tea when I served it. Food was perfect for a fall luncheon and a good time was had by all.

If you can see it tonight, a big golden Harvest Moon is scheduled to appear.

Optimistic

Someone obviously thinks that just because it is September, it's Autumn. Of course the temp this a.m was 77 degrees. Whoopeeee! At least it broke 80 degrees but not for long. Everything is still green - which is nice but maybe, just maybe this year we will have some changing of the colors. That would be really nice and I think with all the crazy weather we've all been having down in Texas, it would be nice to have some cooler fall weather.

Garden Gals September 2010

What fun! The Garden Gals reconvened their meetings today. We journeyed to Plants for all Seasons in the Tomball area - all 17 of us. Sherri (owner's daughter) gave a nice little presentation and presented to all of the Gals a gift bag with goodies, the best being a gift certificate for using to help out with our purchases. The nursery was clean, the staff very helpful and knowledgeable and a great shopping time was had by all. We then moved on down Louetta to a great Italian Restaurant. Once again, a wonderful surprise. The food choices were enough for everyone to make their own decision, well prepared and considering the number of us, the service was good. A great time was had by all. We were all happy to see each other and even tho it was HOT, it was a successful day.

Very long day.....

today. Usually I work at CRMC on Monday afternoons, my co-heart Mike was taking a vacation day so I worked from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Over 27 procedures today, which is way more than usual. Had contact with so many interesting folks. Started with meeting a neighbor who was there with her hubby, and thru the day it just kept getting funnier. Not that being in the Cath Lab Waiting Area is fun for families, but sometimes it just flows that way. The last family in the waiting area at 3:45 p.m. had been at the hospital all day and there were 8 of them. Suddenly we all stopped and listened and one of the sons (who had just flown in from D.C. was snoring). With their permission, I took this picture. Not to worry, when he awoke I ask if it was o.k. and he said since he was cleared of the bank robbery it was o.k. After being released from the "boot" on Friday, my foot was a little tired and that was the laugh that kept me forging onward till the end of the day.
Today's thought was remembrance of 9/14/2008 - HURRICANE IKE. What a difference that made for so many lives.

We'll see.....

Hooray! It worked. Spent time at the AT&T store today and had a lesson in downloading from my camera/cell to my computer. It used to be so easy with my other telephone. This is a little more complicated but I like the phone better. It has alot of neat things. Fortunately I wrote all the instructions down. I felt like 10 years old.

Picture of course is my "grown-up" grandchildren. Ry guy is now 16 and Miss Abbs is 13. Seems like only yesterday that they were tiny tots - now they are regular people with their own personalities - and all the makings of being wonderful adults. Needless to say, I am a very proud Gran. While they were in town we had a wonderful visit, lots of shopping, eating, visiting, movie going, etc. They have returned home now and I probably will see them again in the spring. Actually, I've been blessed that we have had the opportunity this year for lots of quality togetherness. Wonderful.!

and now as I finish this blog - it's R A I N I N G outside. And raining well. thank heavens for small favors. enjoy!

Challenging!

My new cell phone. It is smaller, easier to handle, harder to read, and I still am having probs downloading pics from my phone to the computer. sooooo, it's back one more time to my favorite At&t store saleslady Jackie. This time I am going to write the instructions down in my language. I have read and re-read the manual, I'm of the old school, cat, cat, cat.....i.e. in other words, I work better by doing than reading. Or maybe you just can't teach an ole' gal new tricks. Hate to admit that!
Today's thought from Vic Gold "The squeaking wheel doesn't always get the grease. Sometimes it get replaced". Maybe that is what I should do with my telephone. Just get another one, but I hate to admit defeat. No little cell phone is going to get the best of me, so THERE!
btw, do you believe, it is SEPTEMBER! Welcome to cooler weather, I hope.
